Right to Rent Legislation Changes

Following the UKs exit from the European Union, as of the 1st July 2021, there are some amendments to the Right to Rent checks that affect European Union (EU), Swiss and European Economic Area (EEA) nationals. Previously these nationals only had to provide an ID card, passport or a valid permit to satisfy the Right to Rent checks, but from the 1st July 2021, nationals from these areas now have to prove settled status in the UK.

The Home Office have expanded an online portal where proof can be uploaded by the applicant and can be checked by a prospective landlord, property manager or lettings agent, as well as updating the lists of permitted documentation to mirror the legislation changes.

At Inventory Hive, we are always at the forefront of market changes and we have updated the web-based version of the software in respect of our Right to Rent report creator, to provide more information regarding the legislation changes, the updated list of permissible documents and links to the Home Office online portal. The changes will also be updated on the app, as part of our next scheduled app update. For the time being, we would recommend creating the Right to Rent reports as of the 1st July 2021 on the web browser version of your account to ensure that you have the most up-to-date resource.
